Evening all, i think this is the right area to post this? I am looking for a crayfish trap because my friends stretch of a river is full of them! so would any kind person on the forum like to tell one or give one away? many thanks Matt

You could always try the environment agency as this is much more thier field than ours. It may also be worth checking on the law in that area. I am not sure but I believe you may need a license. If you go to the page for membership there is a link to the E A site. Best of luck David.

Matt,
I believe the basingstoke canal authorities allows people to remove crayfish from the canal as they also have a major problem on some streches. If you are looking to purchase a trap, I saw one hanging up in the Raison Bros tackle shop the last time i was there. Not sure what they were charging though.

thanks paulie! ive made my own trpas now (i can seel if people want) but i didnt no about the canal, so i will take your advice and see what go's on down there, many thanks Matt

I have spoken to the EA 01276 454538 and the answer is that you do need to write and get permision to trap cray fish. The granting will not be a problem but they may require a record of what you take. Talk to dominic Martyn or John Sutton. Best of luck. David.
