Waters

FADAS boasts a large selection of waters. There is something for everyone, from pleasure fishing on one of the lakes to match angling on the river or even speciment fishing for some of our big carp. Here you will find a list of available waters and some information about them.

Hollybush Pits

The lakes on this complex are mature gravel pits dug out in the 1950s. There are five lakes in all and FADAS control three of them each of which has its own character.

Pit 1

Drive round the north end of pit two and onto the parking area by pit one. This six acre lake has many islands and trees, which allows the angler to sit in, secluded dappled shade and is an ideal fishery for any kind of angling.

The last two years have been spent clearing bank side vegetation and swim building. This much under fished water is known to hold Bream to 8lb Carp to 25lb and Tench to 6lb along with a prolific head of other species.

Pit 2

Drive past pit three along the lane and the car park for pit two can be found through the locked gate on the left. A five acre lake containing carp to 30lb with comfortable swims for the angler and his bivy. Other fish are found in small numbers they are Rudd Perch Pike and Tench.

Pit 3

To find this water leave the M3 at junction 4 and head for Farnham on the A 331 at the fourth exit for Farnborough North leave the dual carriage way. On the other side of the roundabout you will see the waters.

This lake has areas of both deep and shallow water therefore the fish tend to move up and down according to temperature and so it is nessacery to seek out those fish holding areas.

Fish contained here are Bream Tench Rudd Roach Perch a few Carp, and Pike for the winter months.

Shawfields Lake

To find this water continue along the A 331 to the next junction, turn right at the roundabout into Aldershot turn right at the second set of lights into North Lane and at the second roundabout turn into Eastern Road at the end of the road walk along the footpath, over the second bridge where you will find the gated entrance onto the waters.

Set in a sleepy corner of Ash and backing onto the River Blackwater. Once part of the Willow Park complex these two lakes with deep channels and islands left over from the earlier days as gravel pits offer some of the best fishing in the area with good all year round sport.

The waters contain a large head of Carp Crucian carp Roach Perch and Bream. This water offers something for all types of anglers from Carp to Match fishing expert to novice all can have memorable days here. With sheltered swims and islands plus an abundance of wildlife makes it the place to be anytime.

There is no closed season on this lake and night fishing is allowed.

River Loddon at Winnersh

A truly superb water with two and a half miles of prime gravel river that fishes all season. When one thinks of Barbel people think of the Avon, Seven or Stour, but not FADAS anglers, who know 16lb fish have come from this water. The fish here are growing and breeding, but they take some catching so don't be afraid to tackle up if you want to land them. As well as Barbel there are Chubb to 5lb plus Perch, Dace, Roach, Bleak, Gudgeon, Pike and the occasional Trout.

With a side stream, Main River, snags trees and weed rafts what else can the river angler ask for? It's worth paying the membership for this water alone!

River Whitewater at Heckfield

As if the Loddon isn't enough FADAS has over three miles of this lovely chalk stream, which we stock, and share with the trout anglers.

It may be shallow but under the banks there live chub to five pounds and in the glides you will find dace and roach. This is a superb winter fishery. Peace and tranquillity go hand in hand along this river. You can visit the trout fishing site for more information about the game fishing here.

Basingstoke Canal

FADAS is affiliated to the Surrey & Hants Basingstoke Canal Angling Association, to offer you over 30 miles of canal fishing, from Greywell Tunnel through Odiham, Dogmersfield, Fleet, Aldershot, Frimley, Woking and New Haw to the River Wey navigation. The canal is a far improved fishery with many thousands of fish introduced in recent years. In recent years it has been used by the NFA to host more than one National Championship as there so many fish to be caught. Join FADAS and you can fish the canal for free! To find out more about the Basingstoke Canal visit the BCAA Website.
